Heat treatments


Cryogenic treatment is done immediately after hardening and, in some cases, after tempering.
The purpose of the treatment is to continue the austenite-martensite transformation for all steels whose martensite finish curve is below ambient temperature, improve dimensional stability and reduce residual stresses.

The process is done at -70 °C to -100 °C for at least 2 hours.
